Look at this! Best Christmas present ever.
You see, in my book I’ve placed one of the major rocket ports at Woomera. I’m pretty lazy at research, so I’d been to Woomera’s web site, and read the Wikipedia page, but this book is amazing.
In case you don’t know and can’t be bothered reading the links above, Woomera was set up in the late 40s by Britain as its part in the post-WWII/V2 rocket technology rush that led to the Cold War and the Space Race. It was the biggest, emptiest, least contentious bit of land they could get their hands on at short notice (so I’ve learned).
Loving it. More detail than I will ever use, but I love the history.
Check out Jimmy’s and Jake’s picks.
