Byrnes Woder Jukebox: Titus Andronicus

I was Skyping with Will about what each of us was going to put up for the next Byrnes Woder Book Club (he has got hundreds of space books at the ready) and he said “let’s do music too”.

So here’s the first, and bound to be irregular, Byrnes Woder Jukebox. Will has gone psychedelic, and Jake-z new wave.

I’ve gone for something a little more current.

BW Book Club 2: Zardoz!

Zardoz

Zardoz, the book based on the screenplay by John Boorman (with Bill Stair)

It’s episode 2 of the Byrnes Woder Book Club and I’m following up Rocky with the copy of Zardoz that I mentioned last time. It might be time to watch the actual movie.

From the back cover (in almost the same green):

Through the lowering clouds came the face of Zardoz, the god who gave Zed and the Exterminators the right to mate, the means to kill. What else in life was meaningful?

Then Zed entered the Godhead seeking its mysteries, entering the world of the Vortex where Death was banished for ever, stirring the long-forgotten sexual desires of the Eternals, dividing them, reversing Time itself to find the true secret of the Tabernacle…

Zed – an unlikely champion against eternal evil…

Check out Jake and Will‘s Byrnes Woder Book Club finds.

Looks like it’s book week at Byrnes Woder

Rocky The Paperback of The Movie

Rocky The Paperback of The Movie

Jake started it with his book post, Will followed and now I’m jumping on the band wagon.

My book find is a near mint condition copy of Rocky. And it’s a first edition. I don’t know if there is a second. I keep it on my bookshelf next to the Sean Connery-movie-photo-cover version of Zardoz.

Welcome Will Stackey

We would like to welcome Will Stackey to Byrnes Woder.

He sent us a brilliant manuscript via our submissions page and we just had to work with him.

Imagine the world made it into space in the 30s and 40s. Imagine rockets built like battleships, from steel plates held together by rivets and driven by “atomic engines” between the planets. Now add pirates.

It sounds corny, but Will pulls it off with grace and a convincing air that makes you wish it was true.

The working title is Space Pirates Over Titan, which we just might keep.

We’ve set up a blog for him which you can find here.

And again, welcome Will Stackey!

One Dwarf Short available for the Kindle

Amazon works a little faster than Apple. Not sure if it’s because they have the numbers or they are more accepting than Apple.

You can purchase One Dwarf Short from Amazon by clicking anywhere along this wordy link.

It should be available on the iBookstore in a couple of days. Follow us on Twitter – we’ll let you know when it goes live.

If you like the book, become a fan of One Dwarf Short on Facebook.

And why not become a fan of Byrnes Woder as well?

The cover for “One Dwarf Short”

Cover image for "One Dwarf Short" by Jake Zablarski

The cover is done. Unfortunately, due to time constraints, we did it ourselves. We aren’t embarrassed by it, but it is not the work of artistic genius that we wanted.

So what we are going to do is launch it, then get a proper cover design by a proper designer/illustrator and produce an Edition B (this one is going to be Edition A).

We’ll make some kind of announcement when we’re ready to brief a designer.

Coming very soon: One Dwarf Short by Jake Zablarski

The first installment in the Private Diviner series, One Dwarf Short is almost ready to see the light of day.

The book is a comedic private eye/fantasy half-breed filled with sly humour and some twisted scenes. Jake’s writing is great and he has packed the book with a lot of original ideas. We think it is going to get a lot of fans.

All we have left to do is nail down the cover and we can go live. Now if we can just convince Jake to do some blogging (we’ve set one up for him), or pop out a tweet or two…
